Caput Mortuum

It is a dark burgundy-brown color with a light purple undertone, which gives it richness and complexity.

Caput-mortuum has not only a creepy Latin translation, but also an equally frightening story. The name of the color translates as "dead man's head," and the paint was made by grinding ancient Egyptian mummies. And in truth, the color resembles the shade of dried blood, which allows it to be used in horror-style tattoos.

This color is also often found in natural motifs, from vegetation and animalism to cosmic motifs, associated with themes of transformation and the cyclical nature of life.
